Project Description

The construction of the Main Collectors and Related Collection Systems within the Al Ghadir Wastewater Project – Contract No. 18074 was commissioned by the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) and financed by KfW.

The project occupies a scope extending over approximately 99,000 linear meters of wastewater network. The project cost amounted to approximately USD 32,000,000 after variation. Construction commenced in 2013 and was completed in 2019.

The project consists of the construction of piped wastewater networks incorporating both pressure and gravity systems, using UPVC, ductile iron, and reinforced concrete pipes. The works include the installation of manholes, house connections, and junction boxes across a variety of site conditions, including paved roads, unpaved roads, alleys, dry riverbeds, and wet riverbeds.

The scope of works includes:

• Wastewater Network: Construction and completion of approximately 99,000 linear meters of wastewater network.

• Pipe Systems: Installation of pressure and gravity sewer systems using UPVC, ductile iron, and reinforced concrete pipes.

• Pipe Diameters: Ranging from approximately Ø150 mm to Ø700 mm.

• Excavation Works: Excavations reaching depths of approximately 7 meters.

• Network Structures: Construction of manholes, house connections, and junction boxes.

• Pumping Stations: Construction and completion of five pumping stations.

The project integrates extensive wastewater collection networks with pumping infrastructure, addressing both gravity and pressurized conveyance requirements across a wide range of urban and natural site conditions.
