Project Description

Following the bid opening, Binaa & Iamar was qualified by the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) to execute the construction of the water supply system serving the region extending between Aintoura and Mrouj.

The project was designed to develop a comprehensive drinking water supply infrastructure serving more than 25 villages within the Caza of Metn. The project cost amounted to approximately USD 4,116,850.65 and was mainly funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. The commencement of the project was officially launched by the President of the Lebanese Republic, with completion that was scheduled for August 25, 2005.

The scope of construction and completion works includes:

• Access Road: Construction of an access road leading to the Qattine Azar pumping station and boreholes.

• Qattine Azar Facilities: Construction of the Qattine Azar break tank and pumping station.

• Transmission Pipelines: Supply and installation of approximately 9 km of transmission pipelines.

• Aintoura Regional Reservoir: Construction of a 3,000 m³ regional water reservoir.

• Aintoura Reservoir: Construction of a 300 m³ water reservoir.

• Reconnaissance Boreholes: Drilling of up to three reconnaissance boreholes.

• Exploitation Boreholes: Drilling and equipping of three exploitation boreholes.

The completed water supply system is intended to provide drinking water to more than 25 villages across the Caza of Metn, including Baskenta, Zaarour, Aintoura, Mrouj, Mtein, Betghrine, Douar, Bologne, Khonchara, Dhour El Choueir, and surrounding communities.

The project integrates water abstraction, pumping, storage, and transmission infrastructure into a regional supply system designed to extend reliable drinking water services across a broad network of Metn villages.
